WHO ARE WE?
DHS is a multidisciplinary design studio in Brooklyn, NY, with over 10 years of experience in interdisciplinary design. Our team is guided by the philosophy that an intentional and mindful process is the precursor to successful design. We give ourselves space to zoom way out — with expanded consciousness — so that we can zoom back in with clearly articulated design solutions. For us, the irreplaceable human touch aids in breathing life into everything we do.
-
Be true to yourself and embrace individuality. We believe in the importance of having a unique voice, and the desire to take up space with self-energy.
-
A strong focus on caring for others—employees, clients, or the community—demonstrates a foundational value of empathy. This includes creating a non-toxic work environment and actively engaging in community support.
-
Respect the creative process and incorporate original ideas and perspectives into work. Take inspiration from precedent and context while filtering through your voice.
-
We have integrity in our work. We accept nothing less than the best client experience. This requires diligence, persistence, attention to detail, and organization.

DANIELLE HERMAN
Founder + Principal
Danielle is a multidisciplinary designer whose work is guided by a deep belief in the quiet power of good design to elevate the human experience. With a rich background that spans interior and graphic design, writing, and hands-on craftsmanship, she brings a refined sensibility to every project—one that balances aesthetic clarity with conceptual depth. Drawing inspiration from the world around her, Danielle approaches design as a thoughtful response to complexity, distilling challenges into solutions that are both intuitive and meaningful.
Her academic journey reflects this diverse creative foundation: she holds an MA from Columbia University, and an AAS in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design. She has also pursued advanced studies in Interior Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute. Danielle’s work has garnered attention from publications such as Dwell and Apartment Therapy, and she has designed for esteemed institutions including Acquavella Galleries and Parsons School of Design.
Beyond her formal practice, Danielle’s creative life is ever-expanding. She explores watercolor, mixed-media collage, and writing; collects vintage books and magazines; and finds joy in upcycling and culinary experimentation. Her curiosity also extends into the metaphysical—she is a certified Sound Healer and is currently on the path to becoming a Reiki Master. For Danielle, creativity is not a profession—it is a way of being.
